CCHMS Youth Day Celebrations cum Breaking the World Record of the Longest Chain of Cans!

It started like any other day, with the usual flag raising ceremony. But hey, today's different! It truly was. The day finally arrived. It's the day that CCHMS sets a whole new world record!

In celebration of the school's 66th Anniversary, CCHMS chained the World's Longest Chain of Cans, breaking the previous record set by Aurora Private School! Two students from each class were selected to participate in the chaining of cans. I played my part in this mega project too, not as a representative who supposed to do the chaining, but as an individual who contributed 80 aluminium cans.

The chaining of the cans started at around 0800 and lasted for approximately 3 h 40 min.The masterpiece was astounding. The cans totalled up to a number of 45,358! Way to go, Chung Cheng!

Thereafter, a new local ballad-rock singer, Jones 石康军 was invited to perform for our Youth Day celebrations. Jones is an ex-CCHMS student, which makes him my CCHMS senior! How cool is that?

Before his performance, Jones was interviewed by Friday Weekly about his visit to his alma mater. Here a link to the extract of the article Jones was featured in: Friday Weekly Issue 705. I managed to get a glimpse of him from my classroom window at around 1110. He was in the basketball court.

During assembly, he performed 3 songs, which are namely 爱中飞行 (Ai4 Zhong1 Fei1 Xing2), 火光 (Huo3 Guang1), and 黑夜过后 (Hei1 Ye4 Guo4 Hou4),from his debut album,'火光 FireLight'. He shared interesting stories of his secondary school years and some 'cold jokes' with us.

After school dismissal, I got myself a copy of Jones' debut album. It comes with 2 complimentary entry passes to his music gig at DXO on 8th July, which is exactly 1 week from today! I'm attending it for sure!

Jones will be promoting his album in China soon. He'll be away for 4 months! Hereby, I wish him all the best in his music career and whatever he undertakes. Jones 学长, kambateh!
